NANAKO TAMARU, PRINCIPAL

Nanako Tamaru is the principal of the Peace and Security Collaborative. As a licensed attorney and experienced practitioner, she focuses primarily on gender equality and social inclusion, constitution drafting, and inclusive approaches to statebuilding.

Nanako also serves as Executive Director of the Boston Network for International Development and Associate for Peacebuilding Effectiveness at CDA Collaborative Learning. She is also a faculty member at Brandeis University's Heller School for Social Policy and Management and a Security Fellow at the Truman National Security ProjectPreviously, she worked for Inclusive Security where she led research and training programs examining why women's inclusion matters for peace and how it can be achieved.

Nanako has also managed peacebuilding programs in Syria and Somalia and has written on issues related to governance and conflict resolution for UN Women, United Nations Development Programme, Mercy Corps, International IDEA, and Conflict Dynamics International.
